Misool Resort • Raja Ampat, Indonesia
Dates TBA (three-week option also available)
“Misool represents one of the most pristine reef systems left on earth — one of only a handful of places where biodiversity is improving rather than declining.”
— Dr. Mark Erdmann, marine biologist, coral reef ecologist and Vice President of Conservation International’s Asia-Pacific marine program

The destination
“The best places lie at the end of the worst roads.”
Located in remote Raja Ampat, Indonesia, Misool is a true tropical hideaway, south of the equator, hidden in an archipelago of uninhabited island, fringed with powder white beaches and pristine coral reefs. It hosts a maximum of 40 guests and a staff-to-guest ratio of 4 to 1. Misool is owned and operated by a passionate group of divers, conservationists, eco-geeks and dreamers.
The resort
Misool’s amenities include several white, sandy beaches, a restaurant and a variety of accommodations.
- The restaurant is located on the beach overlooking the North Lagoon. It offers a broad range of Asian and Western cuisine, with a focus on fresh, local, and organic fare.
Misool’s accommodations have been meticulously designed for comfort, privacy and sustainability. All rooms feature Balinese-style open-air bathrooms, air-conditioning, hot and cold showers, mini-bars and handcrafted furniture.
- Eight luxurious Water Cottages are built on stilts over the North Lagoon.
- In the same area are four, somewhat larger North Lagoon Villas.
- A short walk over the hill takes you to the South Beach Villas.
The diving
All dive sites are part of the 300,000-acre Misool Private Marine Reserve. No fishing is allowed, resulting in an abundance of marine life.
Misool dive center is located in the North Lagoon, built on stilts overlooking the water. There is a massive workstation, ideal for setting up cameras. The adjacent Misool house reef is perfect for shore diving any time of day.
Misool’s dive boats can access over 60 dive sites within one hour of the resort. There are more than 25 world-class sites within 15 minutes.
You can expect to see busy manta cleaning stations, coral covered walls, reef flats, swim throughs, gentle sea mounts, drift dives, vast hard-coral gardens, placid lagoons and current-raked pinnacles. Water temperatures range from 78° F to 82° F.
