Freediving (also known as apnea diving, skin diving or breath hold diving) are all forms of underwater exploration that do not use breathing apparatus such as scuba or CCRs. There are many freediving disciplines with constant weight diving being the most popular. As a scuba diver, this course will help improve your breathing efficiency.
- The SSI Freediver Level I / Pool Certification Course is your opportunity to learn about and experience then freedom of freediving. We start with in-depth discussions in the classroom before venturing to the pool sessions for more learning and practical experience.
- During the initial discussion session, you will learn about freediving equipment options, general safety, freediving skills, and basic physiology.
- We hold two pool separate pool sessions. You’ll learn basic kicks for freediving, how to safely execute the different pool disciplines, various equalizing techniques, proper safety practices, correct headfirst dive and ascent techniques, breath control and breathing recovery practices.
To qualify for Freediving Level I / Pool certification, you need to complete these skills:
- Dynamic Bi-Fin Breath hold Swim for a minimum of 150 feet
- Dynamic No Fins Swim for at least 75 feet
The number one rule in freediving is to never dive alone.
- For maximum attention and learning opportunities, classes are limited to four students.
- After certification, practice in our pool is ONLY permitted when you bring your own safety diver or swimming “spotter.”
