Harry’s Dive Shop

Become a certified scuba diver

Start by following these three steps

Open Water Diver

Becoming a certified Open Water Diver involves self study, plus time in the classroom, pool and open water. Before any of that, however, you need to take part in one of our in-water Orientation sessions. This is something you can do by following these three steps.

Step 1: Gear up

Gear

To take part in the orientation, you must supply the following items:

  • Mask
  • Snorkel
  • Scuba fins
  • Wetsuit boots
  • Weight belt and weights

Harry’s Dive Shop stocks a wide selection of these items, all reflecting the highest levels of quality and reliability. With proper care, they can last for decades.

Consult us before making any purchases so that you can take advantage of our years of experience.

Step 2: Choose an Orientation Date

Weeknight sessions take place from 6:00 until 10:00 pm; Saturday sessions run from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. All sessions take place at Harry’s Dive Shop. Remember that you cannot be late for these, so pick a date when you will have not difficulty arriving on time. Be aware that you do not need to attend an Orientation if you are signing up for private lessons. Upcoming dates include:

These regularly scheduled orientations will take place whenever we have at least four students enrolled. We can also do private orientations for an additional fee.

Step 3: Download the Required Paperwork

forms

Orientation Agreement: The fastest and easiest way to deal with this (and one that won’t have you hunting for a printer) is to open it in Adobe Acrobat. Type your name and desired orientation date at the top, then click on the Signature field at the bottom. Acrobat will walk you through the rest. Then just email the signed form back to us

Step 4: Sign up

You can sign up in person, over the phone or on line. Of course, the fastest and easiest way to do this is to start by clicking the Sign up now button at the right.

Plan ahead

Use the buttons below to plan out when to complete your classroom/pool and open water training. You will also find answers to common questions and can even send us an email if there is a question we haven’t already answered.
