Nitrox/Advanced Buoyancy Control (ABC)

Nitrox

These are the first two classes you should take immediately following certification. To save you time and money, Harry’s Dive Shop offers them together.

Enriched Air Nitrox

Nitrox

The drawback of diving with air is the limited amount of time at depth without paying serious consequences. Now there’s Nitrox, a blend with more oxygen and less nitrogen. Since nitrogen is the factor limiting our dive times on air, less nitrogen in the mix means less nitrogen breathed, less nitrogen absorbed, and less nitrogen to be off-gassed.

Tables

By comparison, it’s easy to see why Nitrox is in such demand. The difference is significant and the process is simple. Unless you plan to use a mix richer than 40 percent oxygen, you do not need to change anything about your personally owned dive equipment.

Advanced Buoyancy Control (ABC) Clinic

Scuba diving is a marvelous sport but with limitations of time permitted. Nitrox permits a diver more time at recommended depths while mastering Advanced Buoyancy Control decreases a diver’s air consumption thereby giving you more time underwater to breathe the gas of choice, be it Nitrox, air, or something more advanced.
